Obituary

Susan Ann Meier, 63, left this earthly realm on Tuesday, September 22nd, at her home in Lakewood, CO. She was born June 27,1963 at Warren Robbins Air Force Base, Georgia, the daughter of Wilfird and Bernita (Riedel) Meier. She was the 6th of seven children.

Susan grew up in the service, spending her very early years in Holland. From there, she moved to California and started school in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Cheyenne, Wyoming came next and then upon her father’s retirement in 1971, she moved to Denver. She graduated from South High School in 1981. She then enlisted in the Air Force, where she rose to the rank of Sergeant and worked as a communications specialist. She served in the Persian Gulf in Operation Desert Storm. She also served and spent time in Oklahoma and Scotland.

After her honorable discharge, Susan moved back to Denver and worked in the tech world as support staff. Susan loved to read, she was a true Trekkie, we think she had every book and DVD there was. She loved watching all types of movies, but mostly old ones. She was a lifetime member of the American Legion and her local VFW Chapter. Susan really enjoyed any time she could spend with her family, especially her nieces and nephews and she was very proud of all their accomplishments.

Susan is survived by her sisters Sandra (Marlin) Jordet, Pam (Ben) Peterson, and Nancy (Mike) Giacomozzi as well as her brothers Mike Meier and Randy (Christine) Meier and by her stepsister Debbie Swank and stepbrother Steven Wiederspahn. She is also survived by eighteen nieces and nephews, sixteen great-nieces and nephews, and a large extended family of cousins as well as three aunts and an uncle. She was pre-deceased by her parents and her stepmother Lorene, her sister Janet Rose, her stepbrother Jerry Wiederspahn, and her great niece Kaitlin Page.

Burial will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery on Tuesday, October 13th at 12:30 pm. A Celebration of Life will be held at VFW 9644 Hall located at 2680 West Hampden Avenue, Sheridan, Colorado after the graveside service.
