Steven H. Orchard

Steven Howard Orchard was born to parents Howard and Julia Orchard in Primghar, Iowa on Thursday November 22, 1951. He grew up in the small town of Cherokee, Iowa where he excelled in various sports in high school. Steve was the youngest of five children. After graduating from high school he migrated west and ended up settling in Denver, Colorado. In 1981 he met and married the love of his life, Kitty. They set up housekeeping and welcomed their son Adam to the world in March of 1984. They were married for a short 43 years.

Steve spent the majority of his career as a very successful salesman for Katzke Paper company where he worked for 35 years. With his outgoing personality and general likeability, he developed life long friendships with co-workers and clients. He was often the companies’ top seller at the end of the year.

In his free time Steve loved playing basketball at the local rec center. His true passion proved to be fly fishing. He caught and released more fish than most of us can even dream about. Beaver Creek was a favorite hangout where he was often spotted vacationing with family and friends.

In the early hours of May 19, Steve earned his wings and took his place in a heavenly trout stream above. He was 73 years old.

He was preceded in death by his son Adam, parents Howard and Julia and brother Jerry. He is survived by his loving wife Kitty, daughter in-law Allison Orchard, grandchildren Everett and Olivia, brother Dick and sisters Judy and Kathy.

A celebration of life will be planned for a future date that has yet to be determined.
