Ramona F. Lizakowski

Ramona (Narlock) Lizakowski passed away at “The Villas Sunny Acres” in Thornton, CO on Friday, November 10, 2023. She was born to Barney and Mae Narlock on January 29, 1931 at Deaconess Hospital in Grafton, ND. She was raised in Minto but loved to spend as much time as possible at her maternal grandparent’s farm near Minto.

Her sister Rita introduced her to Henry Lizakowski and they were married in Minto at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Nov. 14, 1950. After briefly living in Detroit, MI, East Grand Forks, MN and Long Beach, CA, they settled on their farm near Warsaw. They owned livestock, grew crops and raised their two daughters. Ramona was an excellent baker and cook (famous for her chicken dumpling soup). As a member of the Altar Society, she and other farmwives prepared and served meals for many marriage and funeral services that were held at St. Stanislaus Church. She was also a member of the Homemakers Club. Henry and Ramona participated in PNA (Polish National Alliance) Club for many years.

In 1967, they moved to Drayton, ND where Henry was a manager at American Crystal Sugar Beet Factory. Later, Ramona worked there in the lab. Ramona and Henry thoroughly enjoyed being members of the Polka Club and travelled to many towns and states to participate in the Polka Festivals. Ramona was a proud grandmother and a very generous person. One of her favorite activities was playing “wild rummy” card game. Anyone visiting would be asked to join in. After Henry’s death in 1985, Ramona moved to Grand Forks, ND then later to Highlands Ranch, CO.

Ramona was preceded in death by her parents, Barney and Mae, her sisters, Rita and Audree and her brother Abe. Survivors are her sister, Connie (Bob) Ray, daughters, Tara (David) Dvorak and Noel (Bill) Schulze, granddaughters, Season (Dave) Ferguson and Lindsay (Wade) Klennert, grandsons, Trevor (Lisa) and Travis (Evyn) Schulze. Great grandchildren are Shaylee Ferguson, Lawson, Tanner and Harlan Klennert.

Heflebower Funeral and Cremation Services of Highlands Ranch will handle her cremation. A “Celebration of Life” will be held in Grand Forks in summer, 2024 before her burial at Warsaw Cemetery alongside her beloved husband, Henry.
