Preston Earl Clark, 80, of Lone Tree, Colorado, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2024. He was born on April 15, 1944, in Beverly, Massachusetts, to Dorothea and Roy Clark.

Preston graduated from Beverly High School in 1962 and later attended Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, where he earned his engineering degree in 1968. His commitment to education and lifelong learning was evident throughout his life.

In 1968, Preston moved to Albany, New York with his former spouse (Patricia), where he began his career with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. Over the course of 29 years, he dedicated himself to environmental protection and conservation efforts. His passion for preserving the natural world left a lasting impact on the community.

In 1998, Preston relocated to Highlands Ranch, Colorado, where he continued his public service. He worked diligently for the Town of Castle Rock, contributing to its growth and development.

Beyond his professional life, Preston was deeply involved in his church. As a youth group director, he mentored and inspired countless young people. He served on the board of directors for Capital District Youth for Christ, advocating for positive change and spiritual growth. Later, he became a deacon at New Covenant Community Church, where his faith and compassion touched many lives.

Preston was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothea and Roy Clark, as well as his beloved wife, Sheryl Clark, and stepson Randy Smith. He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Clark, and son, Michael Clark (Debra). His grandchildren—Sean Clark, Sara Gorham, and Bryan Gorham (along with great-grandson Ethan)—were a source of immense pride and joy. Additionally, he leaves behind his step-daughter, Suzanna Steller (Larry), step-grandchild Jack Steller, daughter-in-law Melyssa Smith, and step-grandchildren Asher and Montana Smith.

A memorial service to celebrate Preston’s life will be held at Mountainview Christian Church in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, on May 10, 2024, at 11:00 AM, with a reception following. Friends, family, and community members are invited to join in remembering a remarkable man who touched hearts and made a difference in the world.
