Patricia Ann Spatz

Patricia Ann Spatz, 87, of Highlands Ranch, CO died May 17, 2025. She was born December 29, 1937 in Kansas City, Missouri. Her husband of 62 years, Verlin Gene Spatz, and her beloved son, Kevin Alan Spatz, and her only grandson, Philip, preceded her in death. She was the only child to Goldie and Gus Coleman. She started college in 1955 and met Gene during that time. When they graduated from college she married Gene in April of 1959. Pat was a devoted teacher for kindergarteners at Sheldon School in Topeka, Kansas before she became a mom. They moved to Denver, CO shortly after they got married and spent years waiting to be graced with their son, Kevin. Once she became a mom she was dedicated to raising her son and being a homemaker. Kevin gave Pat and Gene their two beloved grandchildren Philip and Elizabeth. Patricia loved to remain busy with her P.E.O. Sisterhood and many friends. She and Gene devoted their time to family, friends, and exploration. Some of their travels consisted of traveling often to Cincinnati to see their son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren. They visited at least twice a year for each of their grandkids’ birthdays, once in April and again in July always bringing loads of gifts each time. They often visited for Kevin’s birthday in October and switched off Christmases between Denver and Cincinnati each year. Pat picked up Gene’s love of sports and became a fanatic of the Colorado Rockies and the Denver Broncos, for years they attended as many games as they could. As they grew older, Pat and Gene still never missed a game on TV. Pat and Gene were also lucky enough to do some traveling in their later years to Ireland and the Netherlands.

Patricia is survived by her daughter-in-law, Carol Spatz and granddaughter Elizabeth Spatz. 

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on June 21 at Heflebower Funeral Services, 8955 S. Ridgeline Blvd. Suite 100, Highlands Ranch, Colorado 80129.
