Mary Ann
Traphagan
Mar 17, 1963 — Oct 11, 2026
Mary Ann Traphagan, a beloved mother, sister and friend, passed away on October 11, 2026. Born on March 17, 1963, in San Fernando, California, Mary was a beacon of kindness and resilience, leaving a lasting impression on all who were fortunate to know her.
Mary was the treasured daughter of Robert Patrick Traphagan and Phyllis Pauline (Kotschwar) Traphagan, who instilled in her a strong work ethic and a love for family. She was also a dear sister to Tracy, with whom she shared countless memories and an unbreakable bond, and a loving mother to her son Kevin, who was the light of her life.
From a young age, Mary was drawn to the beauty and tranquility of the outdoors. Her hobbies included fishing, horseback riding, motorcycle riding and gardening - pursuits that allowed her to connect with nature and find peace. Some would say that Mary was a "horse whisperer" - she had a natural connection with horses and could break even the wildest spirit. She excelled at poles and barrels in local Gymkana and rodeo competitions in her youth.
She had a remarkable talent for flower arranging, and her colorful creations brought joy to many. Mary also had a keen eye for detail and an affinity for sewing and stitchery, which she often used to craft beautiful handmade gifts for her loved ones. Mary was a skilled entrepreneur who owned and operated her own Painting and Drywall company. Her meticulous nature and commitment to excellence earned her a sterling reputation in her profession. She built her business on the foundation of client referrals, a testament to her dedication and the high quality of her work. Her clients knew her as someone who would go above and beyond to ensure every project was completed to perfection. Mary was recognized as a distinguished painter for the Dushanbe Teahouse in Boulder, CO for which she was proudly featured in a Denver Post article.
Throughout her life, Mary remained grounded by the values her parents instilled in her. She was predeceased by her beloved parents, Robert and Phyllis Traphagan, as well as her brothers Patrick and Michael, whom she missed dearly. In her passing, she leaves behind her son Kevin, her sister Tracy, sister-in-law Peggy Traphagan, nephew Austin (Sammi) Traphagan, nieces Tara Traphagan and Jessica Traphagan as well as beloved cousins and her dearest Uncle Kent.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the many care teams whom provided compassionate care to Mary during her final days. Their support brought comfort and peace to Mary and her family. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who knew her.
In honor of Mary's generous spirit and her love for helping others, the family has asked that donations be made to a charity of your choice. This gesture would be a fitting tribute to a woman who touched countless lives with her warmth and compassion.
