Martha Katherine Clausen 1949 – 2023

Martha (Marty) was born on November 11, 1949 to John and Doris Haberman in Nebraska City, Nebraska. In 1967 she graduated from Brock High School in Brock, Nebraska. That was the last class to graduate from Brock High School before consolidation with Johnson High School.

She attended Peru State College for her Freshman year of college before attending the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. In 1971 she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising. Her eye for fashion led to her first job with Hovland-Swanson, a high-end women’s clothing store in Lincoln at the time.

In 1977 she married Marvin (Marv) Clausen in Lincoln and two days later they moved to Denver, Colorado. She was employed at retail stores selling home furnishings and then returned to selling high-end women’s clothing at Nordstrom’s in the Park Meadows shopping mall in Lone Tree, Colorado. In the Parker, Colorado area, she and her husband built their house together, but she made it a home.

After a long period of illness, she passed away at the UCHealth Hospital in Aurora, Colorado on November 14, 2023.

She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband, Marv; her brother, John (Katy) Haberman; her sister, Susan Lathrum; her brother, Joe Haberman; her daughters, Sara Clausen and Dana Clausen; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Marla Miles; many nephews, nieces and cousins.

She was “the rock” for her family and was always there for them. Marty was a caring and loving person who will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

Memorials may be given in her name to the American Cancer Society and/or donations of platelets and/or blood may be made in her honor.
