Maria Poindexter

With profound sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Maria, devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on December 19, 2025, at the age of 86.

Born in Meduno, Italy, Maria met her beloved husband, Bill Poindexter, a U.S. Airman stationed at the nearby Aviano Air Force Base in 1958. Their bond was instantaneous and they married shortly thereafter, joined together in a life which quickly led them to move to the United States, but would also take them all over the world.

Maria was a beloved mother to Dawn, Daphne, and Dean, and a proud grandmother—affectionately known as Nonna—to Amanda, Harrison, Nicholas, Logan, Jackson, Anna, and Brooke. She was also a loving great-grandmother to Mason and Reese. Maria is survived by her sister, Giovanna.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Bill, her sisters Catina, Bruna, Margherita Rachele, and her brother Giacomo.

Maria lived a wonderful and meaningful life as the matriarch of her family and as a successful entrepreneur. A tireless caretaker to all those who knew her, she maintained a beautiful home, an immaculate garden, and was an excellent cook.

She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

Visitation to be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026 from 10am to 11am with Funeral Service to follow at 11am at Heflebower Funeral Services and Cremation, 8955 S. Ridgeline Blvd Suite 100 (SW corner of complex), Highlands Ranch, CO 80129. Committal shelter service at 1pm at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 S. Sheridan Blvd, Denver, CO. Please arrive at Staging Area A/Blue (map below) by 12:45pm.
