Madeline L. Kittle

Madeline L. Kittle, age 90, of 7390 W Eastman Place, Lakewood, Colorado, where she resided for the last 7 years, died on Thursday, December 29, 2022, in Littleton, Colorado. Madeline was born September 15, 1932, in Clarksburg, West Virginia, to Frank and Alvina (Klevins) Jones. She married Roy Kittle in December 1946 in Clarksburg and had two children there: Wayne and David. The family moved to California in 1956 where their third child, Lynne, was born.

Madeline was retired but during her working years, to help support her family, she had various jobs and most remembered and enjoyed her work at Winchell’s Donuts and as a sales representative for Avon. For leisure, she and Roy often played cards with family and friends and took the family on many camping trips.

She lived with and cared for her mom until her mom’s death in 2014. In 2015, she moved to Colorado to be close to her daughter Lynne and her grandchildren. At Madeline’s retirement home, she enjoyed playing bingo, clipping coupons, writing letters to far away friends, providing “constructive criticism” to the cafeteria’s chefs, and having her family over for visits. She was also a slot-machine fanatic, often riding her community’s shuttle bus to Blackhawk to seek her fortune.

Fond memories with Madeline include browsing through thrift stores, sitting on the front porch of her house in WV, camping in the California wilderness, eating her favorite foods: Fried Chicken Wings and (slightly soggy) green beans, playing the slots in Blackhawk and sharing stories of life back in West Virginia.

Madeline was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Alvina; her husband, Roy; her sister, Eileen; her two sons, Wayne, and David. She is survived by her daughter, Lynne; her grandchildren, Lauren and Adam, and their families; and daughters in law, Connie Kittle and Gayle Kittle and their families.
