Leonard Serrano

Leonard Serrano, 74, passed away peacefully on Dec. 19, 2023, surrounded by family at St. Anthony's Hospital in Lakewood, Colorado. Leonard was born in New Braunfels, Texas, on Nov. 6, 1949, to George Serrano and Esther Silos. He was a 1970 graduate of North Platte Senior High. He married Cyndi von Holt on Oct. 3, 1975, and they had a daughter, Sara. Leonard worked for the Union Pacific Railroad from 1976-85. In 1986, the family moved to Littleton, Colorado, where Leonard was employed with Martin Marietta and Home Depot where he worked for 26 years until retiring earlier this year.

Leonard was an avid Husker football and volleyball fan. He loved spending time with his family, whether it be going to summer concerts, car shows, grilling in the backyard or sitting on the deck with a cold drink and listening to some good music. Leonard had a great sense of humor. He loved music and was always singing. You could often hear him singing a song he had heard that day on the radio or just turning his own words into a song. Everyone who knew Leonard knew he was a kind, giving, loving, gentle and peaceful person.

Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, George and Esther; and brothers, Jesse, Ronnie, and Alfonso. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Cyndi of Littleton; daughter, Sara "Daddy's Girl" of Littleton; granddaughter, Hailey, and great-grandson, Kingston, of Aurora, Colorado; sisters, Marilyn (Larry) Logan of Pacific Junction, Iowa, Ophelia Montes Rangel of Omaha and Lupe (Joe) Delgado of Minden; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and many other special relatives and friends.

Service will be in the summer of 2024. Leonard will be laid to rest at Seven Stones Botanical Gardens Cemetery in Littleton. Heflebower Funeral & Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.
