Kenneth Hammerle

Kenneth James Hammerle, 69, of Carbondale, Colorado died on June 16, 2025. Ken was born on November 19, 1955, in Harvey, Illinois to Robert A. Hammerle and Lillian Martinsen Hammerle. Ken attended Oakton High School in Vienna, Virginia; Utah State University (BS, business and accounting); and Arizona State University (MBA, finance and accounting).

Ken leaves behind his beloved wife and best friend, Lisa Curran. He is also survived by his sister, Ruth (Russell) Maxfield of Hamilton, Ohio; sister-in-law LaNae Hammerle of Rockledge, Florida; and nieces and nephews, Melissa Hammerle of Seattle, Washington; Matthew (Amy) Hammerle of Springfield, Virginia, Kristin (Clayton) Hynfield of Hamilton, Ohio, Kevin (Melissa) Maxfield of Cincinnati, Ohio; sixteen grand nieces and nephews, and two great-grand nieces and nephews. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Robert A. Hammerle Jr., and his nephew, Russell Maxfield Jr.

Ken’s career in the ski industry spanned decades, including as CFO of Aspen Skiing Company (2000-2005), Principal/VP of Finance of Sno.engineering, Inc. in Littleton, NH in the 1990’s, and VP/Business Manager of Brian Head Ski Resort in UT in the 1980’s. In the mid-2000’s, Ken switched his focus to commercial real estate, joining Equinox Land Group in Brighton, CO as CFO and Principal. Since 2015, he has provided his considerable accounting and business expertise as consultant to organizations throughout the Roaring Fork Valley. Most recently, Ken entered one of his most rewarding roles as a member of the Board of Directors of Music Therapy of the Rockies, a non-profit supporting veterans and others struggling with PTSD. Fascinated by the scientific connection between music and healing, and in awe of the songwriters who volunteer their time and talent to assist clients in their healing journeys, he was honored to provide accounting and business guidance for the organization.

An avid skier and hiker, he enjoyed skinning up Buttermilk and skiing the powder at Snowmass in the winter, and in the summer, exploring the mountains of Colorado with Lisa and their dog, Tuckerman. Among his most proud achievements was completing two Ironman triathlons, and numerous half, Olympic, and sprint distance triathlons. He loved live music and enjoyed travel, often planning vacations around concerts and acoustic music performances.

Ken was passionate about all of his interests. He was dedicated to his clients and was deeply cognizant of the people behind the numbers in his accounting practice. He was fiercely devoted to his family and friends. A loving husband, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, his family and close friends were the most important part of his life, and he made sure those who mattered to him knew it. He had a terrific sense of humor and a laugh that could fill a room. He enjoyed getting to know people and immersed himself in each moment, being fully present with those with whom he spent time.

A memorial service will be held at Snowmass Chapel on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at 4pm; a Celebration of Life will be held at Maggiano’s Restaurant in Englewood, CO at 12pm on Saturday, August 9, 2025.
