Karly Ann Haugen, 41, passed away on August 13, 2025, at her home in Parker, Colorado. Born on July 18, 1984, in Littleton, Colorado, she was the only one of her siblings to be born in the state she loved so deeply.
From a young age, Karly was full of energy, joy, and a competitive spirit. She was active in Girl Scouts, soccer, basketball, and Powder Puff football. She graduated from Thunder Ridge High School in Highlands Ranch in 2002, where her love for sports — especially basketball — truly flourished. Later, she proudly coached middle school girls in a feeder basketball program, sharing her knowledge, patience, and enthusiasm with the next generation of players.
Karly explored many passions throughout her life. She attended Otero Junior College to play basketball, took courses at Johnson & Wales University and culinary school, and ultimately earned her accounting degree from Regis University. Ever driven, she was working toward her master’s degree in accounting with plans to sit for the CPA exam.
As Tax Director at CFO Colorado, her parents’ family business, Karly was known for her sharp mind, strong work ethic, and dedication to helping clients resolve their tax challenges. She also cherished working alongside her parents and siblings each day. And wherever Karly went, her beloved bulldog Bella followed (a well-loved company mascot and loyal companion who earned treats from everyone in the office).
Karly loved life in motion. She enjoyed hiking, biking, cheering on her favorite teams, especially the Georgia Bulldogs, and staying active in the community. She found joy in home renovation projects, volunteering at animal shelters, supporting Folds of Honor, and serving on her HOA board. She adored being “Aunt Karly” to her five nieces and nephews and cherished spending time with her friends.
Karly is preceded in death by her grandparents Clifford and Martha Haugen, grandparents Huntley and Eileen Filipi, her uncle Alan Filipi, and her sweet Bella.
She is survived by her devoted parents, Lonny and Sue; her sister Kelly and husband Steve, and their children Seibannah, McKaelain, and Broderick; and her brother Justin and wife Aury, and their children Andres and LilySue. She will also be dearly missed by her many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.
Karly will be remembered for her incredible laughter, radiant smile, relentless determination, and her fun, sassy, competitive spirit. Her presence brought joy into every room, and the impact she made will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
A Celebration of Life service will be held by Karly’s family at St Luke’s United Methodist Church in Highlands Ranch, CO on November 1st at 11 AM. In honor of Karly’s love for animals, in lieu of flowers, her family asks for donations to the Edwards Foundation for Rescued Animals: (303-841-8338) https://www.edwardsanimals.com/.
