Janine M. Sugar

Janine Sugar, age 91 passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 17, 2026. She was born December 6, 1934, in Moulins France, to Charles and Helene Heim. She had 1 older sister and 2 older brothers.

At the young age of 16, she met the love of her life, Frank Sugar when he was in the Air Force, stationed in France. She married Frank when she was 19. They were married in France, October 1953. Janine came to Colorado in June 1954 with her husband not knowing anyone in the states and barely knowing the English language. She was married to Frank for 50+ years until his death in 2007.

When she came to America, she wanted to become a citizen as that was very important to her. She studied very hard for several years while her 5 children were napping. Once she became a citizen, as her 5 children attended school, she went to work. Her love for math was always apparent as her first job was working at Dave Cook Sporting Goods in their accounting department. She also worked at University Hills Bank as a bank teller. After several years at the bank, she had the opportunity to go to work for John Mansville in their finance department and worked there for 18 years until her retirement.

She loved dancing with her husband. They were members of The Sons of Italy and went to all their dinners and dances with their group of friends, every Saturday night. New Years Eve was the most special occasion as they met with their same group of friends for several years, as they all rang in the NEW YEAR together dancing the night away. They entered dance contests and won several, proudly bringing home trophies. She was very proud of that. Janine loved knitting, crocheting, reading and doing crossword puzzles. She loved working in her yard maintaining her flower garden. She also attended mass every Saturday evening at St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church as her faith was a very important part of her life.

Janine was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, her son Frank and her daughter in law Debbie. She is survived by her two daughters, Mary (Gary) and Kathy, her two sons Dave (Janette) and Rick. She was the proud grandmother of her grandchildren, Lindsay, Kristen, Luke, Stefanie, Karli, Hunter, Randi, Melissia, Dylan and Jordan. She had 11 beautiful great grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
