George Baldyga

GEORGE J, BALDYGA, 86, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2024 after a long illness at Lighthouse Assisted Living Facility in Centennial, CO. in the presence of his loving Colorado Family, his caregiver Maggie as well as Angel his wound nurse from Namaste Hospice.

He was born in Cicero, Illinois on February 27, 1938 to Stanley Baldyga and Frances (Gorzynski) Baldyga. He had a long career with the Western Electric Company Hawthorne Works (later AT&T) in Cicero, Illinois. In 1984 he moved to Lilburn, GA where he continued working in a supervisory position with AT&T until he retired in 1996 and moved to Ormond Beach, Fla.

He had been happily married to his wife Janina (Skama) for 57 years before she suddenly died on January 10 2018 at a friend’s home in Palm Coast, FL. He and Janina were both deeply religious and were dedicated and devoted supporters of the nearby St. Joseph's Carmelite Monastery and the St. Mary's church where she ran their gift shops and he was Chief Usher and contributed to their fundraising activities. George was also a stalwart member of the local Knights of Columbus chapter.

He was a voracious reader of history books and science related publications and had a near photographic knowledge of any topic under discussion. He was also someone who was willing to listen patiently to anyone needing a sympathetic ear and generous in giving a hand to a neighbor or anyone needing help to repair whatever may not be working.

After his beloved Janina died, he moved to the Denver area to be near his son John. He is survived by John, daughter-in-law Jacqueline (Ford), grandsons James and Jeremy, Jeremy’s wife Rachael (Yoder) Baldyga, brother Leonard Baldyga, sister-in-law Joyce (Brinkley) Baldyga, niece Virginia (Florek) Meccia, nephews Gary Koukol and Gregory Koukol, nieces Natalya Baldyga and Sarah Baldyga plus numerous great nephews and nieces and one great-great nephew and one great-great niece. He was pre-deceased by his parents and his sisters Virginia (Baldyga) Florek and Florence (Baldyga) Koukol.
