Gary L. Hartshorn

Gary “Whitie” Lee Hartshorn  passed away on August 14th, 2023 at the young age of 55. Gary was born in Youngstown, Ohio on August 9th, 1968 to Eileen and Jerry Hartshorn. He spent his early years making lifelong friends and playing his favorite sport, baseball. Gary was a great little league pitcher and continued to play men’s league softball in his adult years. Gary enjoyed spending time with his dad and especially beating him at a game of golf. Gary had a very strong desire and determination to succeed and was driven by his family and wonderful friends. He had a magnetic and attractive personality that would make people happy to know him.

Gary graduated from Apache Junction High School and stayed in Arizona until spending the last 11 years in the place he loved most; Colorado. In those 11 years, Gary met the love of his life, Betsy Friedauer. Together, they hiked, golfed, traveled to their favorite places, ate breakfast, watched movies, and were each other’s best friend.

He was very self-driven and hardworking therefore he started his own business. With Gourmet Gary’s Natural Food, he was able to meet great people, donate to places in the Denver area, and cook delicious food. He was a phenomenal cook, griller, and took significant pride in mowing his grass.

Gary was most proud of his two daughters, Kylee and Briana. They were stars in his world as well as his grandson, Marshall. He loved his boy and loved being with him. Gary was a huge Buffalo Bills fan and had been to many games but mostly preferred watching them on Sunday with Betsy.

Gary loved his family and friends with all of his heart. He cared deeply for the people around him and was a beacon of joy that will never be forgotten. Gary is survived by his two daughters, Kylee and Briana, and grandson, Marshall, his father Gerald and step-mother Debbie Hartshorn, his sister Theressa Koontz and nieces, Alissa, Nicole, and Bridget. Step sister, Kimmy and step brothers Jamie and Steve.

Gary was predeceased by his mother and step father Eileen and Len Belleau. His grandmother and grandfather, Virginia and Stanley “pap”.

The family asks for prayers during this difficult time. There will be a “celebration of life” ceremony to be announced by Gary’s family.
