E Loraine Martin

September 27, 1937 — October 11, 2022

Dr. E. Loraine Martin, 85, passed away peacefully in Highlands Ranch, CO with her family by her side. She was born September 27, 1937 in Arlington, Washington, growing up in Eugene, Oregon. Loraine attended Southern California Christian College where she met her husband, Jim Martin. Later, she went on to earn her Master’s degree and then a Ph.D. in Psychology, both from the University of Colorado, Denver. Loraine also built an extensive resume in specialized therapeutic practices including Psychodrama, EMDR, and Hypnotherapy.

Loraine and Jim raised two sons, Kendall and Steven in the Washington Park area until their divorce. Loraine was a Clinical Psychologist in a private practice with her longtime friend and colleague, Marion Craig. Helping patients who had experienced trauma was her passion, which lead to a robust career of more than 30 years. After semi-retiring, Loraine continued to support her patients in a part time basis until 2016.

Loraine was an accomplished piano player, played the French horn, loved to sing and lead a church choir. Her love for music would get her dancing any chance she could. Travel was also a passion of hers, and she could never turn down spicy Mexican food or a great margarita. She will be remembered by all who knew her as being loving, playful, silly, and generous. She never grew tired of giving and receiving hugs and telling those close to her how much she loved them.

Loraine is survived by Kendall (June) Martin and Steven (Dawn) Martin, grandchildren; Lauren (Brandon) Sligh, Riley Martin, Melissa Martin and Brandon Martin, and great grandson Lincoln Sligh.

The family will host a celebration of life service at Jubilee Fellowship Church 9359 E. Nichols Ave., Englewood, CO 80112 on October 22nd at 10:00 am and all are welcome to attend.

Loraine’s family expresses gratitude to the staff of Brookdale Highlands Ranch and Bristol Hospice of Denver, who cared for her. Please direct gifts in memory of E. Loraine Martin to your local mental health nonprofit organization.
