Carole J.
Kilpatrick
Aug 26, 1942 — Sep 30, 2026
Carole Kilpatrick (née Belum), age 84, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at her home in Englewood, Colorado. She was born on August 26, 1942, in Easton, Pennsylvania, to Peter and Virginia (Capanna) Belum. Carole was a 1960 graduate of Wilson Area High School, and she treasured the friendships she made there, continuing to laugh, talk, and stay connected with many of her classmates throughout her life.
With her natural organizational skills and keen attention to detail, Carole was a dedicated administrative assistant throughout her career. She began working at the Dixie Cup factory in Easton and later worked for Cigna Group Insurance, where she remained until her retirement in 2005.
Carole’s greatest joy, however, was her family. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who found happiness in the simple pleasures of spending time together. Whether cooking, doing a craft, playing a board game, or simply sitting and talking, Carole was always happiest when she was with the people she loved. She was kind, thoughtful, generous, and quietly devoted to her family. In 2018, she moved to Colorado to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren, a decision that allowed her to share many more years and memories with them.
During her retirement in Colorado, Carole enjoyed spending time with her family, exploring parts of her new home state, listening to music, learning about American history, and crocheting. She especially loved making stuffed animals, many of which she generously donated to charity. Her thoughtful nature extended far beyond her family, and she found joy in creating things that would bring comfort and happiness to others.
Carole was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Virginia Belum. She is survived by her daughter, Heather (Kilpatrick) Preonas, and her grandchildren, Thalia and Elias Preonas. She also leaves behind many dear friends and extended family members whose lives were enriched by her kindness, quiet humor, and gentle presence.
Carole will be laid to rest with a small ceremony for family and friends at Northampton Memorial Shrine in Palmer Township, Pennsylvania, in the summer of 2027. Details will be announced at a later date.
Carole will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
