Mercedes Navarrete

January 23, 1951 — February 7, 2022

Mercedes Navarrete passed on to eternity on Monday, February 7, 2022, at Sky Ridge Medical Center in Lone Tree, Colorado. She was born in the city of San Salvador, El Salvador, on January 23, 1951, daughter of Jose Antonio and Isabel Galdámez. As a young woman she graduated from Liceo Americano in San Salvador, El Salvador, with a degree as a Business Secretary in 1969. She then married Guillermo Navarrete in 1971. She had three sons, Guillermo Jr., Daniel and Gabriel Navarrete.

In 1981, she immigrated to the United States with her husband and two sons Guillermo Jr. and Daniel to the San Francisco Bay Area, California. Her third and youngest son, Gabriel, was born a year later. At that time, she along with her family found a warm welcome and community at First Spanish Baptist Church of Oakland where she, her husband, and children actively served the Lord. She was a dedicated wife, loving mother, and mother figure to many who she very generously impacted relationally and spiritually. She became an influence in many lives as she impacted the Body of Christ throughout the East Bay, being an example of a Godly mother, wife, and friend. She most recently lived in Livermore, California, where she impacted lives at Cedar Grove Community Church and continued to serve God in whatever capacity she could.

Mercedes was a woman of many talents. She loved to cook for family and friends, loved painting, and had a love for worship music. She was always supportive of her husband’s and sons’ musical talents and always encouraged them to use their gifts for God’s glory. She was a prayer warrior and intercessor for many and an example of sacrificial love. The Lord most recently guided her and her husband to move to the state of Colorado to be closer to her grandchildren and family, and God graciously granted her this desire of her heart.

She is survived by her loving husband: Guillermo Navarrete Sr.; her three brothers: Francisco Antonio, Jorge Mauricio, and Saul Galdámez; her three sons: Guillermo Jr., Daniel, and Gabriel and her five grandchildren: Joshua, Sara, Michael, Seth, and Arielle Navarrete, all of whom she loved and always lifted in prayer.

She will be missed by her family, acquaintances, and brothers and sisters in Christ who loved her.
