September 14, 1939 - November 13, 2020
Larry Luebcke, age 81, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 12, 2020 at Sunrise Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born on September 14, 1939 in Grand Junction, Colorado to Aloysius and Iris Luebcke. Larry grew up in Lakewood as the youngest of three children and graduated from Lakewood High School. Upon graduation, in 1958, Larry enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 19. He served until 1960 as a paratrooper and enjoyed sharing stories of his daring jumps. His sense of adventure led him to be an entrepreneur and start Cycles of Boulder in Boulder, Colorado. Serving his customers and caring for his employees was one of Larry’s greatest joys. When Larry wasn’t selling motorcycles, he loved spending time with his kids and friends on the lake and in the mountains. Whether it was jet skiing and boating at Carter Lake, boating in the British Virgin Islands, or snowmobiling in Winter Park, Larry was always ready to escape the busyness of Boulder to soak up the sun. Larry loved the Denver Broncos. In 1968 he purchased season tickets. He and his friends Lonnie, Jan, Dave, Erwin and Donna hosted a tailgate for every home game where so many memories were made. One of the best days of his life happened in San Diego where he watched his beloved Broncos win their first Super Bowl. Larry would spend many more wonderful days in San Diego after retirement in his RV. He made so many lifelong friends at the Chula Vista RV park and loved when his kids and grandkids would come out to visit. His love of RV’ing is what took him to Lake Havasu City, Arizona. He finally reached that goal of living there when he moved in August of 2020. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Al and Iris; his brother-in-laws, Ralph and Bob, and his nephew, Mike. He is survived by his sisters Eleanor, Aldean and his brother-in-law, Alan; his son, Dan; his daughter and her husband, Jane and Jason; his five grandchildren, Noah, Josiah, Logan, Adah, and Thatcher, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Larry’s family will be holding a Celebration of Life Service at Littleton Bible Chapel on Tuesday, November 24, 2020. There will be a viewing at 8:30 a.m. and the service will start at 9:30 a.m. The burial service will take place at Ft. Logan Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. The service and the burial will be on a live stream, or available for later viewing on the Heflebower Facebook page.
