Gary David Tackett

August 26, 1966 — March 18, 2019

Gary David Tackett, age 52, of Parker, Colorado, passed away at home on March 18, 2019, and is sorely missed by his family, friends, and co-workers.

A Colorado native, Gary was born in Denver on August 26, 1966 to Gary Dean Tackett and Barbara Tackett. Growing up as the oldest of six boys (Gary, Steve, Jason, Matt, Justin & Josh) and starting his first job at the age of 10, Gary learned resourcefulness, determination, loyalty and the value of hard work – lessons he applied throughout his whole life.

In 1984 Gary graduated from Gateway High School and then put himself through school at the University of Colorado at Denver while simultaneously launching his 30+ year mortgage career. With an intuitive knack for the industry and a remarkable ability to know and remember rules, regulations, and obscure options, Gary was the one who knew how to get a complicated loan accomplished for the customer – whether at Norwest & Wells Fargo, Chase, CSBT, Starkey or Gateway Mortgage. Gary was an incredible asset to the mortgage and homebuilding industries and will be greatly missed.

Gary married his sweetheart, Heidi Lindemann, in March 1992. During their 27 years together in both Aurora and The Pinery, Gary and Heidi raised a loving and active family, which included David (23), Rachel (21), and many beloved four-legged creatures through the years.

Outside of his career, Gary was a devoted husband and father. His love of soccer was passed on to his kids, and his son David played through high school at Ponderosa. Many often commented on Gary’s active involvement in soccer, including coaching youngsters, refereeing, coordinating travel plans, or cranking the music in the high school stadium before announcing the games. He also loved being a constant presence for Rachel’s activities, whether those involved soccer, horses, dance or swimming.

Years of community involvement included Cherry Hills Community Church, where Gary and Heidi have been members since 1992, the Aurora Chamber of Commerce, the Colorado Mortgage Lender’s Association, the Home Builders Association of Metro Denver, and all of the Douglas County schools attended by David and Rachel through the years. Whether it was Gary or Heidi that did the initial volunteering, they usually ended up working on projects together, and Gary was always known as the guy who would do anything for anyone.

Each person who knew Gary will miss him in their own way – for his love of his family, his business wisdom and insight, his willingness to “take in” or “take care of” those who needed help, or his quick wit, love of conversation and every type of music … the louder the better.

A memorial service to honor his life will be held at the Dixon Chapel on the Cherry Hills Community Church campus, 3900 Grace Boulevard, Highlands Ranch, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 5, 2019. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those who wish to do so consider a donation in Gary’s name to one of the following organizations that were near and dear to his heart:
