Florence Carolyn Beers

Florence Carolyn Beers, age 89, passed away peacefully in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, on August 17, 2021, after a long battle with dementia. She was born in Jeannette, Pennsylvania to John and Florence Miller, and graduated from Jeannette High School. She was married to Thomas W. Beers on January 31, 1953 in Jeannette, PA. Having a zest for life, Carolyn was a loving and devoted mother to four wonderful boys, and routinely participated in their upbringing, including PTA involvement, as a room mother, den mother (cub scouts), academic mentor, and in the planning and execution of junior and high school fund-raising events, and more. Her sons all recognize the profound positive influences she had on their creativity, dedication, and success throughout their later lives.

Throughout the years, Carolyn enjoyed sewing, knitting, cooking, dancing, baking, photo documentation of all events in her life (and those of her sons), and garage sales! In her post high school years, she worked for the Airforce ROTC at Penn State University as a typist, and continued using her skills, performing free-lance (mandatory error-free) typing of Masters and PhD theses for Purdue University students (with carbon copies no less!). In her later working years, Carolyn became a real estate agent as well as a roving secretary at Purdue University, providing a variety of administrative services to numerous departments. However, painting was her earliest and deepest passion, and Carolyn proved to be a very talented artist. She primarily painted landscapes of all types and sizes, and would never turn down a chance to try something new no matter how difficult it was. She always created a beautiful finished product. She crafted clay models of varies sentimental items related to her family -- each son is proud of those meaningful mementos, and will always treasure them.

Carolyn is survived by her husband, Thomas W. Beers (Highlands Ranch, CO), her sons Thomas Dryer-Beers and wife Victoria (United Kingdom), Timothy C. Beers (Notre Dame, IN), Todd G. Beers and wife Sharon (Highlands Ranch, CO), Theodore W. Beers and wife Marion (Corvallis, OR), and her sister Marilyn Mulhaupt (Austin, TX), along with eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
