Eileen Ayako Seno

October 14, 1939 — June 24, 2022

Eileen Ayako Seno, age 82, departed her loving family on June 24, 2022.

Eileen was born on October 14, 1939, to George Kyumatsu and Haruko Yamamoto in Seattle, WA. During WW II, she was put into the Minidoka Internment Camp in Idaho with her parents and older brother, Martin. After the war, the family moved to Chicago, IL, where she spent the remainder of her childhood. She graduated from Amundsen High School where she was a cheerleader and an active and enthusiastic member of the “Chics”. After graduating from the University of Illinois in 1962, she married her college sweetheart, Wayne, who had just been commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the USAF. In 1963 they moved to Ohio, where they were stationed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

Eileen was a caring and loving mother to Tammy, Kristin and Greg. She and Wayne raised their family with love and devotion in Huber Heights, Ohio. In 1989, they moved to Denver, CO to begin the next chapter of their lives.

Eileen was known for her willingness and heart to serve others and her hospitality. She was a dedicated volunteer in her children’s schools, activities, and also in her community as an active member of TWIGS, The Women’s In God’s Service organization. Eileen was a constant and familiar presence at her children’s and grandchildren’s games, performances and awards ceremonies. She and Wayne were socially active as a couple, participating in bowling, bridge and mahjong groups. She also cherished her time golfing and the girls only trips with her friends.

Eileen was a 5-time cancer survivor. She was taken from us after complications from an emergent surgery. She will be dearly missed, but loved and remembered fondly by all who knew her.

Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, George Kyumatsu and Haruko; her brother, Albert; and her sisters, Elsie and Yuriko. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Wayne; 100 year old sister, Hatsumi; brother, Martin; daughter, Tammy and her partner Keith; daughter, Kristin and her husband Andy; son, Greg and his partner Linda; as well as her grandchildren, Eric, Jorie, Zach, Jake, and Chloe.
