Douglas Lee Austin Jr.
November 3, 1991 - September 3, 2020

Douglas Lee Austin Jr., age 28, was born November 3, 1991 in Warrensburg, MO and passed away into eternal peace September 3, 2020 in Denver, CO. He was a 2010 graduate of Blue Valley High School in Overland Park, KS where he graced the court with his tremendous talent in basketball. He went on to spend a semester at Iowa State University, playing the sport he loved and cherished so dearly. Douglas then followed the footsteps of his decorated father and joined the military where he earned Distinguished Honor Graduate in the US Army’s 3rd Platoon Renegades. After the military, he spent the rest of his short but passionate life as an outstanding contributor to the Denver culinary scene as a Sous-chef.

Our Dougie was an incredible young man who had a sense of humor that brought pure joy to our family, and the spirit of a champion that enabled him to tackle every endeavor in life with phenomenal intensity to achieve the skill set of a Master.

Dougie left this life far too soon, as he had so much more to offer everyone and everything in his world - his potential for extraordinary achievement and love was second to none.

Douglas leaves behind an adoring mother, Rachel Austin, from Highlands Ranch, CO who cherished him unequivocally - a caring father and stepmother who found great love and joy in sharing their life with him - a big sister, Cryssy Schultz, from Highlands Ranch, CO, and a little brother, Christopher Lucas, from Ft. Collins, CO who loved their brother with all their heart - a doting maternal grandmother, Bonne Pile, from Kansas City, MO, and paternal grandparents, Bob and Connie, from Lincoln, MO who treasured their wonderful grandson always. Douglas also leaves be-hind aunts, uncles, cousins, and true friends who loved him and will miss him always. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Russell J. Pile, of Kansas City, MO.

Douglas was taken into the care of Heflebower of Highlands Ranch, CO and is going home to Missouri where he will be laid to rest at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Warrensburg. Grave-side services will be Saturday, September 19, 2020 at 2:00pm under the direction of Sweeney-Phil-lips & Holdren of Warrensburg. A Memorial Gathering For Family and Friends will be from 4:30 - 6:30pm at Cave Hollow Park Pavilion in Warrensburg. The family suggests sending memorial contributions to the “YES” ministry - Youth Excited about Sports of Warrensburg, MO. Checks can be mailed to the program at 130 SW State Route 13, Warrensburg, MO 64093, or a direct donation can be arranged at 660-909-6797.

My Beautiful Sonshine - You were so full of life and had the energy of ten strong men, always striving to achieve the best of the best of the best. Words will never adequately define how much we love you eternally, how much we will miss you forever.

Rest peacefully, Son - you are surrounded by love in your eternal life.
